4 die in accidents

TWO people died last week after a Nissan caravan they were travelling in veered off the road and overturned several times landing on its side at the 15km peg along the Chitenga-Sanganai road in Buhera.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the accident. He said the conductor of the Nissan Caravan, Innocent Machivenyika of Machirima village under Chief Nyashanu in Buhera, was driving the vehicle after the driver had gone to buy some food at Barawara Business Centre.
"Machivenyika lost control of the vehicle and it veered off at the 15km peg along Chitenga-Sanganai road near Barawara Business Centre. The vehicle overturned several times before it landed on its side. Machivenyika got out of the car and ran away from the scene," said Insp Kakohwa.
Two of the five passengers in the vehicle died on admission at Murambinda Hospital and the three survivors are admitted at the same hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Sarah Tsoni (62) from Machirima village and Kennedy Gamanya (12) from Gamanya village.
Meanwhile, two other people died along the Chivhu-Nyazura road last Tuesday after the driver of car they were travelling in lost control and the vehicle veered off the road.
The accident, which occurred at the 98km peg near Mutasa Business Centre at around 7am on July 28, claimed the lives of John Masamba (30) and Roy Ncube (38) from Chalton Farm in Gweru. Insp Kakohwa said the two died on the spot while the driver and a passenger sustained serious injuries.
