Hubby douses and burns wife's lover

A Harare man from Greendale suburb suffered serious burns after he was doused with petrol and set alight by a very angry husband who found him being intimate with his wife in a vegetable garden.
Mr Mbongeni Chimumbu is lucky to be alive after the gruesome attack by an enraged Samuel Muchetu (31), who last week appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Court facing an attempted murder charge.
The court heard that on the day in question, Muchetu returned home unannounced and saw Mr Chimumbu and his wife, Priscilla Masuwa, in a compromising position in a vegetable garden.
Mr Chimumbu then beat a hasty retreat.
It is understood Muchetu subsequently launched "serious investigations" and managed to locate Mr Chimumbu.
Armed with petrol and a box of matches, he cornered his "love rival" before setting him alight. According to court records, Mr Chimumbu, who described the incident as traumatic, suffered severe burns on his back.
"Samuel first hit me with a stone in the face before pouring petrol on me and setting me on fire.
"I tried to run, but he kept chasing me and pouring more petrol," said Mr Chimumbu in his statement to the police after being admitted to Parirenyatwa Hospital.
Mr Chimumbu denied allegations that he was involved in an adulterous affair with Ms Masuwa.
Meanwhile, Muchetu was remanded out of custody.
