MDC-T President, Dr Thokozani Khupe says the 2018 harmonised elections were by far the freest when compared to all past elections in spite of some teething problems they encountered which she attributed to ZEC's maladministration.

Addressing a press conference in Harare this afternoon, Dr Khupe said "[the election was] one of the freest to some of us who in previous elections were forced to send our children outside the country's borders and could not sleep in our own homes for fear of violence. It is time to forge ahead as a nation and unite to fight the economic challenges which confront the nation."

Dr Khupe, who is happy to have emerged 3rd best, implored the President-Elect, Emmerson Mnangagwa to rope in all presidential candidates to build consensus and get ideas to move the nation forward.

The call for unity among Zimbabweans comes as the MDC Alliance is contesting the election outcome and is in the process of lodging a court challenge.

The MDC-T secured two senatorial seats and two National Assembly seats in the 2018 harmonised polls.
