Hit and run driver drowns in a pool

A 23-year-old man from Mkoba 9 was found dead in a disused pool in Ngamu area near Antelope Park, two weeks after he was involved in a hit and run accident.
His body was found on July 28, 2018.
A passer-by found the body of Ganizani Phiri two weeks after he fled from the scene of accident.
Midlands Province Acting Police spokesperson Xolani Dube confirmed the issue.
"Police in Gweru are investigating a case of suspected suicide by drowning where a 23 –year-old was found floating in a disused pool," said Dube
Dube said that investigations carried out revealed that Phiri left his home on July, 13, 2018 at around 6pm after a vehicle he was driving veered off the road and hit two pedestrians. It is alleged that he fled and left the car at the scene.
The injured were ferried to Gweru provincial hospital for treatment and they all recovered because they had minor injuries.
