Habakkuk Trust director Dumisani Nkomo has said the youth participation in governance in a poor economy will not help the situation.
"Youth participation in governance processes will mean very little for young people in the absence of economic empowerment and secure livelihoods .Civil society interventions which do not address bread and butter economic needs and aspirations of young people will have very little impact in the next ten years," he said.
"In the Zimbabwean context the greatest needs which youths have are economic. Human rights must be championed but they cannot be championed on empty stomachs."
