Man burns wife's bedroom

A 28-year-old man was slapped with a twelve months jail term yesterday by Concession resident magistrate for setting his wife's bedroom hut ablaze.
Andrew Ngondoma pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo. According to public prosecutor Thembikosi Mananga on the of 10 July at around 02:00 hrs at Roanflats A Compound, Concession.
Ngondoma had had a misunderstanding with his wife Ndaizivei Chaboma (26) over infidelity issues. He set his wife's bedroom hut on fire reducing everything in the hut to ash.
The destroyed property includes a double bed set, National identity card, Birth Certificate, four blankets, various clothes and kitchen utensils worth $509.
This occurred after Chaboma ordered her husband to pack his belongings and leave her bedroom.
The magistrate suspended three of the twelve months on condition of good behaviour for five years hence he will serve an effective nine months behind bars.
