chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Wayne Bvudzijena recently revealed that the Zimbabwe Republic Police plans to use lie detector tests to weed out corruption.
Bvudzijena, who was responding to a Transparency International report that cited the police force as the most corrupt institution, said lie detectors would help to identify corrupt officials.
"If an officer undergoes the lie detector tests and fails, he or she will be suspended and we will conduct thorough investigations which will determine the extent of the punitive action," he said.
Previously lie detectors were reserved for sensitive units in the police force such as the minerals section. Bvudzijena said foreign specialists will be hired to assist in the implementation of the lie detector process.
