CID Detectives from Bulawayo were called and attended to a shooting incident at ZEC Commissioner Dr Qhubani Moyo's house which is guarded by a  member of Police Protection Unit.

The police officer was armed with an FN rifle.

Circumstances obtained at the scene are that at around 19:00hrs, one gunshot was heard and on being questioned by Moyo's wife on whether he had heard a gunshot, he confirmed that he was the one who fired the shot testing his weapon after they had been told to tighten security.

When Moyo's wife heard the second shot later, she ignored and kept herself in the house only to hear the police officer knocking on the door with some blood oozing from his chin.

She immediately called Moyo who in-turn contacted the police. Initially it was thought it was an attack at a member of ZEC family.

However so far signs show either an attempted suicide or accidental discharge. The bullet hit him under the chin and exited above the mouth near the nose. Detail was however unable to talk.

He is currently admitted at UBH.
