A SEKE man killed his wife and one-month-old child after accusing her of cheating on him.
Lloyd Gorimbo, 46, is believed to have downed rat poison and hanged himself after committing the heinous act.
The incident occurred last Thursday in Nyere village.
Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident urging people to seek help from elders or police in solving issues.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of a Seke man, aged 46, killed a toddler and his wife aged 40 last week.
"The man based in South Africa had a marital problem with his wife claiming that the baby belongs to another man.
"He used a kitchen knife to stab his wife on the stomach, back and head and the child's body had some scars as well," said Ass-Comm Nyathi.
Impeccable sources close to the family told H-Metro that Lloyd received reports that his wife was cheating on him prompting him to confront her over the allegations.
"It so sad that three people died because of a gossip by Lloyd's relatives," said the source.
"Lloyd works in South Africa and was affected by reports that his wife was dating other men and came planned to deal with his wife.
"Akatora mwana akamurovera pasi achibva afa pakarepo ndokubaya mukadzi nebanga padumbu, musana nemusoro ndokufazve mugarden.
"He disappeared from the scene and was found hanging on a tree branch and a packet of rat poison was found by the side," said the source.
The bizarre incident left Seke community in a shock.
Relatives of Lloyd's wife, the Mavengwas demanded 15 cows to participate in the burial of their daughter.
Lloyd and the baby were buried on Monday and the wife was expected to be buried yesterday after Gorimbo family managed to pay five beasts.
