The National Family Planning Council is in the process phasing out the blue and white or Panther condoms which are also known as 'Dembare' in the social circles and replacing them with a more colourful and scented type.
"After realising that the 'Dembare' type was no longer as popular the Council has decided to introduce a new condom variety that is more colourful and more attractive as well as scented. The Council also felt the old variety has run its course and needed replacement to go with the times," said a source at NFPC who cannot be named.
The NPFC national spokesperson, martin Mukaronda's phone was continously on voicemail when The Mirror contacted him for a comment.
The condoms from NFPC are given for free at public places and entertainment joints in the country as way of preventing unplanned pregnancies, STIs and HIV and AIDS.
