The First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa says she will continue championing programmes aimed at reducing HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe.

In an interview after meeting with First Ladies attending the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, Amai Mnangagwa said she will continue with her advocacy to ensure people get access to HIV and AIDS treatment and to curb new infections among adults and newborn babies.

Zimbabwe has an estimated 1.3 million people living with HIV and about 5.5 percent are reported to be children under the age of 15 years while women constitute 59 percent.

Significant progress has been made so far in trying to educate the populace and the recent launch of the 'Free to Shine Campaign' is the latest achievement by the First Lady.

Poverty has been another challenge that has stalled efforts in combating HIV and AIDS.

However, the First Lady's Angel of Hope Foundation has already embarked on income generating projects to empower citizens.
