The mayoral elections which were set for Bulawayo large city hall were postponed after indications there were several illegalities in holding them at the public hall and also due to failure by the provincial administrator to attend the event.
Town Clerk told reporters that the local authority was advised that it was illegal to hold the elections at a public hall as they were supposed to hold them inside the council chambers.
The council had decided to hold the election in which 29 councillors were expected to chose a mayor and his deputy at large city hall after the residents petitioned the local authority to conduct it at a bit open place where many people could attend.
Dube also said the security of the polls was likely to be violated if they were held at a public place like a hall.
He said the event has since been postponed to Friday where it will be held in council chambers and only limited number of members of the public will be allowed in.
