RETAILERS have implored relevant authorities to ensure their survival in business in the wake of menacing vendors who conduct business on their doorsteps.

Speaking to H-Metro, one of the school wear shop managers who preferred anonymity expressed anger towards their competitors.

"Government must take a drastic step in removing the vendors from the CBD or create a market place where they can also pay rents.

"We are not able to chase them away from our doorsteps as they become violent towards us.

"Back to schools are no longer the same as in the past whereby there were long queues and good market for our stuff," said the manager.

He said these vendors are all over the town and its affecting all their branches as they are both uptown and down town.

"At first, uptown shops were spared from this crisis but now they are also being affected.

"We understand that everyone is working hard to earn a leaving but it must not be at the expense of others.

"Only a few parents who understand that we sell strong and good quality uniforms still buy from our shops," said the manager.

He added that the relevant authorities must do something and allow them to work in peace.
