Military directly involved in Zim elections- Ruhanya

A political analyst Pedzisayi Ruhanya has said the military has directly and indirectly taken charge of the election processes and made it very hard that anyone not aligned to it would win the presidential office.
He said this has been part of ZANU PF philosophy. Meredith (2007: 1) observes President Mugabe making this concession in one of his speeches saying, "our votes must go together with our guns.
"After all, any vote we shall have, shall have been the product of the gun. The gun which produces the vote should remain its security officer – its guarantor. The people's votes and the people's guns are always inseparable twins." It is this very system that Mugabe constructed that led to his downfall," he said.
