President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made a passionate plea to Zimbabwean Diasporans in the United States to return home and participate in the realisation of the new leaders' vision of attaining a middle income economy by 2030.

Addressing a full house of Zimbabwean Diasporans who came from different States of the US and some from as far as Canada and Netherlands on Sunday afternoon in New York, the President said the Diasporans should use the expertise, knowledge and experiences acquired in the diaspora to build Zimbabwe.

He said opportunities exist for Zimbabwean Diasporans to contribute in various sectors of the economy, including infrastructure development, mining and agriculture, to name but a few.

Earlier on the President had started by briefing the group on how he came to be in the leadership position in Zimbabwe and how the country has gone to elections and reengagement processes which is fast yielding results that have lead to the warming up of the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries.

"And it's only a matter time for the US to start following suit," said President Mnangagwa.

He also explained to them about major projects coming up, including a rural electrification programme using lithium where power is generated where it's needed.

In a question and answer session, the diasporans expressed interests in different areas including land, business opportunities and the need to set up an advisory board to advise the leadership on different aspects.
