The visiting Zambian President, Michael Sata has toured the National Heroes Acre where he laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The curator at National Heroes Acre, Mrs. Rumbidzai Bvira led the Zambian President through artistic works depicting the country's history through the liberation struggle until independence in 1980.
Mr. Sata went down memory lane as he vividly identified some of the names of the late nationalists whom he said spearheaded the 2nd Chimurenga.
Speaking after the tour, President Sata said he was impressed by the way Zimbabwe recognises the importance of freedom fighters adding there is need for other countries to draw lessons.
President Sata had the opportunity to visit graves of nationalists such as Herbert Chitepo, Josiah Tongogara and Dr. Joshua Nkomo, among others.
Zambia which gained independence in 1964 played a crucial role in Zimbabwe's independence offering both ZANLA and ZIPRA fighters bases.
National heroes such as Herbert Chitepo, Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo and Alfred Nikita Mangena died in Zambia.
