The first lady Grace Mugabe was on Thursday pictured carrying a baby on her back in a bid to impress the visiting Zambian first lady,  Dr Christine Kaseba who toured the Grace Mugabe Children's Home.

When the visiting First Lady of Zambia arrived in Mazowe there was a whole line of little ones to welcome her, their mother leading the way.

The Grace Mugabe Children's Home comprises over 30 modern houses which are currently at different stages of completion. Three of the houses are already under occupation by 24 orphaned children since August last year.

The children are taken care of by foster mothers some of whom are from the surrounding community, as a way of creating jobs for the locals.

The first ladies' next port of call was the Grace Mugabe Primary School whose construction started in November last year and is expected to be completed this December, six months ahead of schedule.

When complete, the school is expected to cater for up to 1 000 students.

Speaking to journalists after the tour, Dr Kaseba commended Mugabe for her commitment to children's welfare and for providing them with a second chance in life.

Mugabe said she still has a lot to do to realise the full vision of the project, where teachers' houses, a hospital, a secondary school as well as a university are still to be built.

From the school, Dr Christine Kaseba came face to face with the first family's state of the art Gushungo Dairy Project which is expected to be commissioned within the first two weeks of May.

The dairy estate has 1 300 herd of cattle and produces an average of about 8 000 litres of milk per day.
