People in Highfield had to endure a meandering queue for bread at TM Pick n Pay Machipisa branch yesterday.
Consumers who spoke to this reporter at TM implored the government to take a quick action in reviving the economy.
"We are made to queue to get only two loaves of bread and you can see the meandering queue it is as though the bread is being distributed for free but instead it is cheap so we rush here where we get it at 75cents but as the economy continue to shrink the more these commodities become scarce, we urge the government to act before it is too late," lamented Dudzai Chengo.
Another customer who could not brave the queue
bemoaned the liquidity crunch saying Zimbabweans are now clueless of
their future.
"I tried to stand in the queue but later figured out that l am losing my precious time this is due to liquidity crunch we do not know how our future will be tomorrow," said Isaac Muchirahondo.
Apparently, the Grain Millers Association (GMAZ) has suspended with immediate effect the supply of bread and self-raising flour to biscuit and confectionery baking entities to prioritise bread output.
According to GMAZ notice the suspension will be reviewed after 14 days when local and imported wheat supplies are expected to have improved.
