Zambian President Michael Sata's support for Zanu-PF reached another level on Friday when he chanted the former ruling party during the official opening of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
Sata who was guest of honour at the opening of the business expo in Bulawayo left many tongues wagging after chanting, "Pamberi ne Jongwe (forward with the cock, a Zanu-PF symbol)" soon after completing his keynote address.
As he chanted the slogan, Sata waved his right clenched fist typical Zanu-PF style when the chant their slogans in rallies.
This was done in full view of ministers of government from the two MDC formations in the inclusive government formed after the inconclusive 2008 elections.
When he first chanted the slogan, the arena became quiet as people were confused with the Zambian leader's utterances in support of a political party at a business function.
When he uttered the slogan the second time, some Zanu-PF supporters and service chiefs roared into laughter while giving a thunderous applause.
Sata, who recently replaced former president Rupiah Banda in a recent election was quick to declare his allegiance with Mugabe while attacking MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
Tsvangirai did not attend Friday's official opening ceremony.
