Zanu-PF fraudsters jailed

Two ZANU PF youths, who on Monday begged a Concession magistrate for messy after appearing before him on fraud charges, were on Tuesday sentenced to eleven months in prison.

Simon Madzudzo (33) and Musa Mukahiwa (41) pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud before Concession magistrate Nyasha Machiriori.

Prosecuting, Munyaradzi Nengomasha said on 30 May the duo (Madzudzo and Mukahiwa) met another ZANU PF supporter Garikai kudakwashe Kaparadza at Valley Business Centre, Concession and made him pay $350 for the allocation of land and an offer letter before taking his identity card at lands offices in Concession.

On the same day they used the same modus operandi to trick an Mvurwi man Eria Danger before finally duping Eunice Gede of her $380 using Ecocash.

In mitigation the duo pleaded with the magistrate to consider that they resituate the complainants as they are close friends and are from the same party youth assembly.

"Your  worship we are begging you not to send us to jail since we are willing to pay back our colleagues these are our colleagues from ZANU PF youth assembly hence we are very good friends, it only that our processes were delayed but we can facilitate the land the need if given a bit of some time," they said.

In sentencing the magistrate suspended 4 months of the eleven on condition that they resitute the complainants the sum of $1080 before 30 November an additional two months were suspended on condition that the duo completes 70 hours of community service at Mvurwi primary, the remaining four were suspended on condition that they do not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
