TODAY 30 April 2012, War Veteran besieged the new government offices in Harare which houses the Ministry of Finance demanding that the Finance Minister Tendai Biti pay their children's school fees on time.
The war veterans were chanting war songs and beating up drums some holding placards castigating the Finance Minister for paying their children's school fees late.
Just after 12 noon, war vets got to the new government complex and ordered the security guards to lock the doors so that no-one can get out and no-one can also come in. Those who wanted to get out were told to stay put as they (War Vets) wanted to send a strong message to 'mutengesi' Biti.
One of the workers in the Finance Ministry said school fees meant for the war vets was delayed and that was communicated to the relevant authorities. The ministry finally released the funds last week and it was unclear whether it has been paid to the relevant schools as yet.
Among some of the War Vets claims was that Biti pay their kids school fees 7 days before schools opens.
One woman who was visibly drunk was shouting at everyone accusing people of wanting to remove Robert Mugabe from being president.
"Vatengesi, munoti nenguva ya Smith mainga fambe muna first street, nhasi masununguka mavakuda kuthi vaMugabe vabve pachigaro, hazimbofa zvakaitika izvozvo," said the woman.
