The government is set to introduce performance dashboards to monitor and keep in check progress being made by ministries as well as performances of provinces as devolution takes shape.
While President Emmerson Mnangagwa has committed that his government will soon implement the devolution concept, indications are that performance dashboards will be used to measure and rate production across all sectors ranging from health, education and economic development.
Speaking during a provincial education merit awards ceremony in Marondera, Mashonaland East Minister, Appolonia Munzverengi said performance of government ministries will also be tracked to evaluate and identify areas needing further development.
"The government will soon introduce a dashboard that will be used by President Mnangagwa to monitor and rate performances of government ministries and provinces. This will be effected to push for best results," she said.
Late last year, the government hinted that it was set to introduce wholesome changes to the national governance architecture by comprehensively decentralising and devolving power and authority, including fiscal, investment and economic responsibilities to each of the country's 10 provinces.
Harare Metropolitan Province will be Zimbabwe's ICT nerve centre, while Bulawayo will be the country's industrial hub.
Manicaland Province will host the diamond beneficiation centre, with Midlands the iron and steel value-chain beneficiation centre.
