Mugabe hosts May Day Luncheon For State House Employees

President Robert Mugabe says workers are the backbone of every economy and must be accorded respect in recognition of the work they perform, the Zbc reported.
Mugabe made the remarks during a May Day luncheon hosted by the First Family for workers employed at State House.
Government started the May Day celebrations before trade unions hijacked the programme and turned it into a political tool.
Today President Mugabe demonstrated that workers can be celebrated at institution level by hosting a luncheon with the First Lady for all workers employed at State House.
Addressing the workers, Mugabe said workers are an integral component of every economy and must be respected, irrespective of their positions.
Mugabe implored employers to take note of the contributions of their employees.
The First Lady, Amai Grace Mugabe urged workers to remain united and show respect for each other saying backbiting is detrimental to progress.
After the luncheon, the workers who included groundsmen, cooks, waiters, drivers and security personnel joined the First Lady on the dance floor.
This is the first time that the First Family has hosted a luncheon for State House workers.
Workers Day is celebrated world wide to commemorate the economic and social achievements of workers.
