Zanu PF Manicaland Youth League has called for transparency in land allocation following alleged corrupt dealings in the past that saw youths failing to benefit from land programmes.

There are hopes that through the downsizing of farms by the land commission set by President Emmerson Mnangagwa more youths will benefit enabling them to contribute to the country's economy through farming.

Zanu PF Manicaland Youth League Secretary for Information and Publicity Pedzisai Mudende implored the government to allocate the youth land so as to promote hard work amongst them.

"As youth league, we have realised that when land was allocated we were young and did not benefit. But now we are all grown up and we feel we need the land. We want to farm so that we raise our families and we hope that through downsizing of farms we will be able to benefit," said Mudende.

The Manicaland Youth League has set up a task team that will inquire on residential stands allocations in districts with hopes that many youths will benefit from the programme.

"We are set to have empowerment programmes so that the youths will benefit. We will speak to those who deal with land and different projects so that our people will have an opportunity to develop through those different programmes," said Zanu PF Manicaland Youth League Chairperson Tawanda Mukodza.

Calls have been made to business owners in Manicaland not to sabotage the government by hiking prizes of basic commodities trying to create a situation that will put the government in bad light.
