Streak never demanded payment outside the country - lawyer

FORMER Zimbabwe national cricket team coach, Heath Streak, has denied that he wants to be paid his outstanding dues by Zimbabwe Cricket in a Foreign Currency Account outside the country.

His lawyer, Mr Gerald Mlotshwa in a letter to this publication, said the article carried by this paper on 14 October headlined "Streak rejects transfer payment from Zimbabwe Cricket" was misleading.

"The first paragraph of the article is factually incorrect. At no time did our client, Mr Streak, demand to be " . . . paid into an account outside the country".

"For the record, no such demand was made. It is fictitious. For the further record, ZC, through its lawyers, but without our authority, sought to transfer monies into our trust account, purporting to settle amounts owed to Mr Streak (and Mr Bell). We have returned these payments."

We apologise to Mr Streak for the inconvenience caused by the article. Streak, whose two year contract with ZC was due to expire at the end of October, was sacked in March, following Zimbabwe's failure to qualify for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
