Mixed reaction over amendment of importation regulations

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions secretary general Japhet Moyo has said Zimbabweans have received with mixed reaction the government's amendment of the importation of basic commodities regulations.
"Zimbabweans received with mixed feelings the amendment of the regulations that required licences for one to import certain products," he said.
"However what stood out unexplained by government is where would foreign currency to import those goods come from. Is government tacitly saying Zimbabweans do have forex stashed somewhere and are now allowed to cross the borders dump it there and bring foodstuff etc?"
He said for the traders, which currency would they use back home and presumably they take bond notes and RTGs, where would they get forex for restocking.
"My guess is that they would go to the black market for forex," he said.
"With this approach we do not have resolved the parallel market headache."
