President Robert Mugabe today while addressing mourners who gathered at the National Heroes Acre to bid farewell to the late national hero, Edson Ncube, said no oppressor or imperialist can ever teach you how to rule yourself.
Mugabe reiterated that Zimbabwe will never be a British colony again.
"Teach those who still think that the white man is wiser than the black man (that) no oppressor or imperialist can ever teach you how to rule yourself. They can rule the rest of the world and not Zimbabwe. That's why we say Zimbabwe will never be a colony again, because people like Edison have helped us to say so," Mugabe said.
The President hailed the life of Ncube whom he described as a very quiet and humble man who worked and never questioned the position he was given.
"The leadership is transforming and is becoming too materialistic. That is going to destroy the party. Let us be like Edison Ncube, who never questioned the positions he was given" he said.
He urged the nation to emulate the late national hero who fought tirelessly to preserve economic freedom which he said is a vital component to life.
He said Ncube will be remembered for fighting external forces that have tried to dictate the running of the country's affairs.
