The MDC Alliance has rallied its supporters in Matabeleland South Province to participate in planned mass protests meant force a constitutionally elected government to hand over power to the opposition party.

This came out during the oppositions party's thank you rallies held at Dulubadzimu Stadium in Beitbridge and Phelandaba Stadium in Gwanda on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The rallies were also meant to mobilise support for the mass protests that the party is planning to stage before year end.

Party leader, Nelson Chamisa said the demonstrations should culminate in President Emmerson Mnagagwa conceding power to the opposition which he alleges won the July 30 polls.

"I am here to seek your support. If you say we should take to the streets we will do that because I believe it is time that we claim our victory," he said.

The call to stage mass protests comes as a commission of inquiry has been established to investigate the death of six people killed during post election demonstrations in Harare on 1 August.

On the current state of the economy, the opposition leader told his supporters that he has the answers to the challenges facing the country.

The rally was also attended by the party's Vice President, Professor Welshman Ncube, senior party leadership as well some defected members of the National People's Party who included Dzikamai Mavhaire.
