One of the key witnesses in the Kgalema Motlanthe led Commission of Inquiry Makomborero Haruzivishe has reported that he has been attacked by six unknown assailants in Harare.

"I have just been attacked by six guys right at Angwa City. They sped off in a White Subaru Forester with number plates ACK2677," Said Haruzivishe.

Haruzivishe confirmed that he has since reported the matter to the police who are yet to institute investigations.

"I had  Cde Ashlegh Pfunye to collect some parcel there. Once we got to collect the parcel, the attacked me."

Messages of sympathy from pro-democracy activists poured in with others warning him to be cautious because the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation Members use Subaru cars.

The  former secretary general of the Zimbabwe National Students Union Haruzivishe is a key witness in the Commission of Inquiry on the August 1 killings.

Giving his evidence in Chief in front of the commission, Haruzivishe said  he was lucky to be alive, as a bullet just missed him. He said it was scary seeing soldiers shooting indiscriminately.

"There was a guy who was shot in front of me along First Street. I m not sure if he died but he was motionless. It just shows you that they have not reformed. Soldiers were shooting indiscriminately as if we are in Mogadishu or Juba where there is a war, or Syria where there are terrorists"

Soon after the killings President Emmerson Mnangagwa  blamed the opposition for the violent scenes.

"Incidents of wanton violence and hooliganism which broke out in the capital come as a complete surprise," Mnangagwa said, speaking on ZBC. "We hold the MDC Alliance and its whole leadership responsible for this disturbance of national peace which was meant to disrupt the electoral process."

"The Commission is yet to finish its inquiry and table the report to the President.
