Tsholotsho Rural District Council has suspended its chief executive officer Themba Moyo over allegations of corruption and embezzlement of funds.
A forensic report presented on the 30th of October led to the suspension of Moyo on allegations of misconduct.
Council Chairperson Esau Siwela confirmed there was an agreement for Moyo to pave way for investigations while he is on suspension.
"The suspension of the CEO is not because we have found him guilty but it is because he is the accounting officer and since 19th of October when the principal director arrived with his audit report he has been cooking and forging documents. He has also been denying us access to some information, and manipulating employees. As Councillors, we realised that he is going to be interrupting our investigations. That is why we ended up opting for him to be suspended," said Soka Ngwenya, Tsholotsho RDC Audit Chairperson.
Said Council Chairperson Esau Siwela: "We are happy with the outcome of our meetings and we hoping every one co-operates and we move on with development. We do not have an agenda of firing anyone."
The audit report is said to have exposed matters of corruption, gross inefficiency, misuse of funds, failure to register assets among other misgivings.
