Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe embarks on an awareness campaign

The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe has embarked on a nationwide awareness exercise aimed at educating pupils and students on the importance of adhering to road and traffic regulations as a means to curb accidents.
The programme will target some 1500 primary and secondary schools in rural and urban centres.
Speaking during the programme launch, the Director of Operations at Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, Mr Proctor Utete said there is need to change the attitude of road users hence the decision to target schools on road safety.
Mrs Charity Nhira, a customer relations officer with a local motoring company, echoed the same sentiments, adding that the corporate world should support such programmes as they save lives of motorists and road users.
The programme is expected to help in preserving the numerous lives that are being lost in the country's roads mainly due to motorists' negligence.
