Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is alleged demanding President Mnangagwa to resign from the Presidency in 2022 so that he can assume the leadership of the country and of the Party pending his substantial endorsement at the plebiscite pencilled for 2023.

A ZANU PF source who spoke to us on condition of anonymity revealed us the details of the move.

"The General is very clear these days that he did not do the coup so that someone else may enjoy  the fruits of his efforts. In a heated meeting held after the politiburo meeting held end of october the General told the President to his face that he was a compromise candidate after the initial deal the he had with former President Mugabe had failed. He reminded the President that Grace Mugabe was his own project which he had suggested to Mnangagwa and Mugabe to stop Mujuru."

According to our source Chiwenga ,who has always been know with the nickname Zim 2, had planned to remove Mujuru then succeed Mugabe making Mnangagwa one of his Vice Presidents. However the plan backfired when Mugabe reneged from the deal and started cosying up with people like Jonathan Moyo, the deal had to backfire.

"So the fight is real its not imaginary. The source said. But Mnangagwa will not take the pressure lying down. He is willing to use all legal and political means to entrench himself against any plot that might be threatening his political power base."

Earlier this month, there were reports that ZANU PF Youth had planned a demonstration against Chiwenga, however in response Secretary for Youth affairs Lewis Matutu downplayed the reports calling them a mischievous MDC plot.

"Please be informed that ZANU PF Youth league can never undermine the leadership of the party in any way and VP Chiwenga is part of the party's presidium which is doing great work for the people of Zimbabwe and young people, in particular."

Matutu fingered the opposition MDC as being suspected to be behind the reports of the alleged demonstration.

"It is our strongest suspicion that opposition forces are responsible for the confusion and this can never be allowed ,MDC Alliance have failed to destabilise our country after a lot of effort they must stay away from ZANU PF and it s leadership because they are not our members."

Matutu further added, "Speculating false, divisive and misleading information about our leadership is unacceptable, there is no and will never be any demonstration against anyone in the hierarchy of the party by the youth league."
