The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube has hinted on confidence rebuilding measures in his 2019 national budget to be presented on Thursday this week.

The national budget is a key element that shapes the destiny of an economy by striking a balance between limited resources and expectations from industry and commerce.

Since his appointment as Finance Minister in September this year, Professor Ncube has focused on austerity measures to restore economic growth.

The 2019 national budget will re-build confidence in the economy, according to the minister.

"We shall do our best to unlock value in this economy against some challenges," he said.

With the prevailing 2 percent tax on mobile money transactions,  unstable pricing systems, a huge debt overhang, foreign currency and cash shortages, emerging high inflation and government expenditure, Zimbabwe's economy needs policy consistency, noted Delta Beverages CEO, Mr Pearson Gowero.

"It is now about that time to walk the talk and achieve the real best results," he said.

Buy Zimbabwe Chairman, Dr Anxious Masuka said "the budget should provide the basis for achieving vision 2030. We just need those policies that can have an impact in stimulating growth."

The budget is set to be linked with the country's new economic blue print, the Transitional Stabilisation Plan (TSP).
