Minister of Information, publicity and broadcasting services Monica Mutsvangwa has reportedly dumped the Lacoste faction aligned to President Emmerson Mnangagwa in favour of a new faction led by her husband Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa.

A source close to the happenings has informed us that Monica is now a crusade to recruit senior members of ZANU PF to align themselves to Chris.

Said the source, "Monica has technically become a commissar of her husband Chris and she is working flat out to recruit members to their faction. The plot that is being hatched by Chris is to remove General Chiwenga  from the  Vice President position and takeover that post. This will enable him to manoeuvre towards the highest post in the party and in the land which is what he is ambitious of."

The source further told us that Monica is trying to recruit senior ZANU PF members who for long have been loyal to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

"I can authoritatively tell you that Monica has been trying to recruit senior members like Cde Oppah Muchinguri, Cde Mike Madiro and Cde Kembo Mohadi among other heavyweights. Monica and Chris feel that if they have the support of these heavyweights, they will be able to defeat the Cosleg faction which is aligned to General Chiwenga.

"The Mutsvangwas are in a desperate bid to see General Chiwenga, Obert Mpofu and Commissar Engelbert Rugeje ousted from their positions and replaced with their own people."

Recently the Secretary General of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association Victor Matemadanda revealed that when Mashonaland West province moved a motion to recall Mutsvangwa from the Chairmanship, Monica phoned him to ask where he stands.

"When Mashonaland West announced that they now want Mutsvangwa to be recalled, Mutsvangwa's wife called me at midnight saying what is your take? I said, I spent five years fighting (former President Robert) Mugabe and now I want to work for my family," Matemadanda said.
