European Union says it has channeled over a billion dollars to Zimbabwe since the formation of the inclusive government in 2009.
The EU bloc revealed this today in a statement to mark Europe Day saying "our partnership to the people of Zimbabwe is long-lasting ... Zimbabwe is a country with a great future."
"Supporting the window of opportunity provided by the Global Political Agreement and the Inclusive Government, the EU and its members states have since 2009 provided over one billion dollars in development assistance, including towards the following achievements.
EU said it has provided 22 million textbooks to all primary and secondary schools in the country saying, "over a half a million orphans and vulnerable children are able to access primary education by having their school fees covered."
On agriculture, it said "some 700 000 small scale farmers have been supported to improve productivity and sustainability in agriculture benefiting millions of Zimbabweans in the rural areas.
The statement comes at Zimbabwe on Tuesday sent a ministerial delegation to EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium for talks aimed at normalising relations.
The relations have been frosty since the EU imposed sanction on the country.
