The two Vice Presidents Retired General Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Cde Kembo Mohadi have implored all progressive Zimbabweans to put shoulder on the wheel and rally behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa to override painful moments the country is going through.
Commenting on the all weather friendship which saw the Republic of China fighting in Zimbabwe's corner before, during and after independence, Vice President Chiwenga reminded people and the world that despite hardships the country is enduring, through the continued support from the Asian giant Zimbabwe's economic freedom is in the pipeline.
"Let me remind the world that China which came to our rescue assisted us in the struggle for our liberation, we have achieved independence, and with galant products of Chinese military training in the form of His Excellency President Mnangagwa, and China coming again to fight in our corner, we will override colonial symbols and achieve our economic freedom," he said.
Vice President Mohadi weighed in describing the painful moment the country is going through as a passing phase, saying progressive Zimbabweans should rally behind President Mnangagwa as brighter days are coming.
"In the second republic great decisions are being made under the stewardship of President Mnangagwa, such great projects being supported by China, will unlock potential for a prosperous country, despite the painful moment, President has taught us to endure under the sunny weather as we move towards achieve a upper middle class economy," he said.
The sentiments by the two Vice Presidents come on the back of fuel shortages which hit the country over the past weeks, price increases on basic commodities and a 2019 budget presentation which introduced a number of austerity measures which are expected to address key socio-economic fundamentals.
