The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) has called for ZANU PF to raise the presidential age limit from 40 to 52 years.
War Vets Secretary General Victor Matemadanda said as former freedom fighters they are tasking the Annual People's Conference to adopt a resolution that will see parliament to amending age limit for Presidential candidate to 52, Senate 40, MP and Councillors 18 years.
The war vets said the office of the President must be occupied by someone who is mature enough to understand the gravity of the responsibilities that come with the office.
In August this year Joseph Chinotimba told a rally that he will introduce a motion in Parliament to change the age limit for one to stand as a presidential candidate.
"I want the presidential age limit to change from 40 years to 55 or 60 years. I am going to introduce this motion in Parliament. This is because some of the presidential candidates are very young; they are not yet mature to lead this nation," he said.
"We want people who know the history of this country, people who are responsible for their actions. I am not going to do this for Chamisa but I think it is very important for our country."
