Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters have condemned the statements by the War Veterans Association calling for the revision of the Presidential limit age from 40 to 52.
The organisation called the statements selfish and rooted in party interest.
"We strongly and utterly condemn the statements attributed to the war veteran's organisation which suggests increasing the presidential candidate age qualification." The organisation said in a statement.
"The idea is ignoramus as much as it is retrogressive , lacks vision , is rooted in selfish party politics and not putting the future and the aspirations of all Zimbabweans at heart .
"Zimbabwe is a country with laws prescribed in our constitution. The constitution is the supreme law of the land and should therefore be treated with reverence."
The party said they were disturbed to learn that a group of ‘old uneducated men' want to push for the constitution to be changed with a crude and selfish agenda to halt progressive politics in the country and called upon all Zimbabweans to reject the move.
"We call upon all progressive and democratic forces in Zimbabwe to join us to reject and resist such a retarded idea.
"Zimbabwe is experiencing severe economic and social challenges. The focus should be on addressing those challenges as they affect our people on a day to day basis."
The War Veterans resolved to call for the ZANU PF Conference to adopt a resolution that will see parliament amending the presidential age limit requirement from 40 to 52.
