National Patriotic Front Spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire has sensationally claimed that heavy security deployed to search people attending the graduating at Zimbabwe Open University on Friday lost pens, combs and makeup kits which were deemed as security threats.
"I went to Zimbabwe Open University graduation today (Friday) and the searching we were subjected to is testimony to Emmerson Mnangagwa's paranoia." Mawarire said. " My wife lost quite a few pens, some, bought for my kids by their teachers from Israel. Most ladies lost plastic combs and a number of make-up paraphernalia to state security agents."
"Armed members of Presidential guard, those that gunned civilians on August 1, were deployed inside City Sports auditorium at ZOU graduation, holding their AK47 visibly ready to fire. They made the environement very tense, what if one of them decided to open fire on guests for not clapping for Mnangagwa?"
President Mnangagwa has recently beefed up his security which is mainly made up of the Presidential guard unit of the army unlike Former President Mugabe's which was full of members of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation.
Recently an armed fake state security agent, who breached President Emmerson Mnangagwa's close security on two occasions last year using a fake secret police security clearance at state functions, was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
The self-styled prophet, Gathry Chiredzero, was found guilty on all charges against him.
Harare magistrate Yeukai Chigodore sentenced Chiredzero to five years for possessing an offensive weapon at a public gathering, 5 years for impersonating a public official, 4 years for driving without a licence, 1 year for possessing articles for criminal purpose and 1 year for forgery.
Passing judgment Chigodore said the state had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt as its witnesses gave compelling evidence against the convicted Chiredzero.
Chiredzero will only serve 12 and half years in jail after the magistrate suspended the remainder of his sentence.
