Zanu- PF Minister of Local Government Ignatius Chombo has called for the banishing of gays and supporters of gay rights from rural areas saying such people should have their land taken away.
Addressing a gathering that had come to witness the installation of Chief Mabhikwa in Jotsholo on Friday, Chombo accused the two MDCs of trying to smuggle gay rights into the constitution.
"We will not allow that. They want to please their Western funders but we as Zanu- PF will make sure that gay rights are not put in the constitution," said Chombo.
"I want the chiefs to banish all those who are involved in gay activities. Even those who support gays should have their land taken away because they do not belong to our society."
He said even MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai had found himself a woman,"and I do not understand why a person would want to marry another man when there are so man beautiful women in Zimbabwe."
Chombo was supported by Matabeleland North Givernor Thokozile Mathuthu saying, "we don't want to compete with other men for applying make up and in our kitchens."
