Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Gideon Gono's former advisor, Munyaradzi Kereke, is threatening legal action against his ex-boss for allegedly making "gross misrepresentations to the general public".

Kereke is also demanding repayment of $100 000 he alleges Gono unlawfully withdrew from his medical centre's bank account.Kereke's lawyers Gasa, Nyamadzawo and Associates yesterday wrote to Gono demanding that he withdraws the alleged false statements he made to the media.

The letter reads in part: "We consider it apposite to point out from the outset that your publications in the newspaper were read with shock and revulsion due to the glaring misrepresentations you made to the public.

"We have been instructed to notify you, as we hereby do, that you should recant your misrepresentations to the public and formally withdraw your false statements made to the general public.

"We have been further mandated to institute legal proceedings against you for the damages you have caused our client as a result of the fraud."

On Thursday, Kereke called a Press conference where he accused Gono of "stealing" public funds as well as withdrawing $100 000 from his firm Rockfoundation Medical Centre in 2010.

In the letter, Kereke's lawyers are demanding the $100 000 repayment plus interest and other charges amounting to $84 100, 40 on behalf of their client.

"Kindly please let us have your payment in the sum of $184 100,40 or alternatively the proof of payment in the sum US$184 100, 40 or alternatively proof of payment to the alleged settlement in the next five(5) working days," reads the letter of demand.
