Bogus doctor gets 20 years behind bars for rapping niece (7)

A BOGUS doctor has been jailed 20 years for raping his seven-year- old niece.
Lovemore Dzvimbu had pleaded not guilty to rape charges when his trial opened before regional magistrate Ms Esthere Chivasa on Friday. He was, however, convicted because of overwhelming evidence.
For the crime, Ms Chivasa slapped Dzvimbu (28) with an effective 20 year-jail term and an additional 10 months which were set aside on condition of good behaviour on another rape related case.
In passing sentence, Ms Chivasa noted that Dzvimbu was not a first offender and that the society needed the court's protection.
"A custodial term is justified in such a case," she said.
Prosecutor Mrs Sarah Bosha proved that some time in January this year, the complainant was watching television with Dzvimbu and decided to retire to bed.She went to her bedroom.
The girl was woken up by the noise of a door being opened and she saw Dzvimbu getting into her room.
Dzvimbu, the court heard, removed his trousers in full view of the minor and sneaked into her blankets before raping her.   The court also heard that there was no one at the house.
She did not tell anyone and only opened up to her mother when she joined her in Zambia. 
She was asked to take a bath and she was reluctant and complained of pain on her private parts.
She then narrated her ordeal before being taken to hospital. The minor returned to the country with her mother and reported the matter to the police.
Dzvimbu claimed to be a UZ graduate in the Faculty of Medicine and was waiting to be attached at Mpilo Hospital but it was proved that he was never a student at the institution.
