Zimbabwe will not be ruled by homosexuals or people advancing its cause as this might force a reversal of the land reform, Matabeleland south governor Angelina Masuku has claimed.

Masuku told her Zanu-PF members at Davis Hall in Bulawayo on Saturday that allowing homosexuality would be a betrayal to Zanu-PF.

"We will not be ruled by homosexuals or people that support it. If we are not careful they will reverse all the efforts that we have made so far," claimed Masuku.

"These people will reverse the land reform which people fought for and Zanu-PF would have failed the people if we allowed this."

Zanu-PF through its leader President Mugabe is opposed to gay rights being included in the constitution. Mugabe is famous for saying "gays are worse than pigs and dogs."

On Friday, senior party member Ignatius Chombo said traditional chiefs should chase away homosexuals in their communities and take away their land.

"The chiefs are there to protect and promote our cultural values and those who support same sex marriages must be banished from the communities and be dispossessed of their land. What kind of madness is this that when we have beautiful women in our country some people want to marry other men," he said.

"Chiefs have denounced homosexuality and who are you to endorse it," added Chombo.
