Zimbabwe's Ministers of Defence, State Security and Home Affairs are meeting their Mozambican counterparts in Maputo for the 6th Zimbabwe-Mozambique defence and security permanent joint commission which kicked off on Monday.

The Zimbabwean delegation comprises the Minister of Defence, Emmerson Mnangagwa, the co-Minister of Home Affairs, Kembo Mohadi and the Minister of State Security, Sydney Sekeramayi who is leading the delegation.

The Defence and Security ministers of the two countries are examining various issues affecting the two countries such as transnational organised crime, poaching, irregular migration, human and drug trafficking.

Mechanisms on how to deal with these problems are expected to be dealt with.

Sources close to the meeting said the countries have expressed the need for the establishment of mechanisms of extraditing criminals in the two countries.

The ministers are also concerned about how to deal with the increasing cases of poachers along the border area.

With the preparations underway for the holding of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation Conference next year, the ministers are also expected to come up with mechanisms to ensure security for visitors and travellers attending the gathering.
