Deputy Minister of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services Energy Mutodi who came under fire on Monday for urging Zimbabwe to dump fuel guzzling cars and opt for fuel savers or bicycles has decided to take his own advise.
In a circulating video Mutodi is seen coming out an Ex Japanese Toyota fuel saver. Several people were stunned as they saw the flamboyant Deputy Minister in an ex Japanese vehicle.
Mutodi said, "Zimbabweans let us try to conserve fuel. I have parked my big car and opted for this small one so that we do not use too much fuel as a nation. I urge you to follow suit."
On Monday Mutodi said, "Faced with high fuel costs, clever people know what to do and here are some tips," Mutodi said. "Avoid fuel guzzler, reduce fleet, cancel unnecessary trips and use bicycles where possible to save BIG."
Minister Mutodi also warned the Zimbabweans not engage in the planned #ShutdownZimbabwe protests that have been called by Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, #ThisFlag and other civic organizations.
"Do not protest in the street you can lose a limb in skirmishes." Mutodi warned.
The Monday protest left about two people dead and scores injured after an altercation with the police.
