Lawyers in urgent meeting over army killings.

The Law Society of Zimbabwe has invited all lawyers to attend an Extraordinary General meeting to discuss the state of lawless in the country particularly the one happening in the courts where accused persons arrested of participating in violent protests are denied their constitutional rights.
In an invitation letter to lawyers LSZ said, "Whereas the Council has considered the state of the Rule of Law in the country in particular the events occurring at the courts.
"And whereas in Terms of By Law 10 of the Law Society of Zimbabwe By Laws 1982, the Council has resolved that this is a matter of urgency, justifying calling for a meeting on short notice.
Notice is hereby given that an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Law Society of Zimbabwe will eb held on Monday the 28th of January 2019."
LSZ revealed that its core agenda will be to consider the state of the rule of law in the country and to resolve on the appropriate response by the profession.
On Thursday LSZ published a statement stating that they have received reports of abductions, arbitrary torture happing to citizens.
They further revealed that majority of accused person are denied bail and juveniles are tried and detained.
Members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Defence Forces have been engaging in a process of restoring law and order after the violent January 14 protests that rocked the country.
The operation have left several people dead from gunshots, hundreds hospitalised while thousands are languishing in prison.
The police and army spokespersons have denied that it is their members who are engaging in this operation but have blamed thugs who are posing as members of the force.
