Karoi-Binga road tarring begins

Surfacing of the 300 kilometre long Karoi-Binga road has begun in earnest.
Work on the project has begun in earnest from Chivakanenyama in Hurungwe west with the first 10 km stretch of the dirt road expected to be tarred within the next three months.
District Development Fund (DDF) finance and administration director Mr Wilfred Kachitsa told reporters that the road surfacing programme will be done in phases with a target of 10 km per every quarter.
DDF director of roads Engineer Goodwell Mapako said the project implementing partners have the requisite capital equipment for the task before them.
Chief Dandahwa from Hurungwe hailed government for the project being funded through proceeds from the 2 percent tax on electronic money transactions and its being implemented by the DDF in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development.
On the map, the road is marked as tarred implying that the surfacing of the road may have been on the cards for decades.
