The late superstar Oliver Mtukudzi built Pakarepaye Arts C entre in Norton after the Bindura Town Council rejected his application to acquire land for the Arts centre project.
This was allegedly revealed by his uncle at the graveside during the burial of Tuku.
Posting on Twitter Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe Secretary General Raymond Majongwe said, "I was so disappointed to hear from Tuku' s uncle who in his grave side speech told the mourners Tuku went to build Pakarepaye in Norton because the Bindura Town Council refused to give him land in Bindura. It 's a real shame. I felt embarrassed."
Mtukudzi was buried at a full state assisted funeral on Sunday in Madziwa, Bindura after Preside Emmerson Mnangagwa declared him a National hero.
"I also heard that Bob build Gushungo Dairy in Mazowe because Norton Town council refused to give him land in Norton." One Masimba Tangwa said responding to Majongwe's post.
Social entrepreneur Hillary Musarurwa said, "I'm not surprised though with such a stance. Our local authorities are stifling development. They also look at your face or the party card you have. I have been trying to get land in Norton to set up something since 2016 but to no avail. I was told to re-submit my letter thrice."
One Mabel Nyazika said perhaps the dignitaries who attended Tuku's burial felt embossed by the statement from the uncle.
"I bet those high-ranking government officials who were at the top table cringed as they heard Tuku's saying as it is. It showed how hypocritical the lot are. I am sure they wished they were not at the top table."
Oliver Mtukudzi is the first musician in Zimbabwe to be declared a national hero.
However his former colleague Thomas Mapfumo said a hero is not declared when he is dead but citizens declare their heroes even when they are alive and such was done to Tuku.
