Anti-graft commissioners resign

Commissioners of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) have resigned with immediate effect.
In statement, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda said President Emmerson Mnangagwa has accepted the resignation of the entire ZACC Commissioners with effect from today.
"…the President Cde ED Mnangagwa has accepted the resignation of the Chairman of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, Dr Job Whabira, with effect from 31 January 2019. Furthermore, His Excellency the President accepts the resignation of the rest of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commissioners with effect from 31 January 2019," said Dr Sibanda.
Dr Sibanda added that all the ZACC Commissioners have gone on leave pending the finalisation of their terminal benefits.
He said President Mnangagwa extends his gratitude to Dr Whabira and the Commissioners for the sacrifice and efforts they rendered to the country in the fight against the scourge of corruption.
Dr Sibanda revealed that the President will soon appoint a new chairman of ZACC in terms of Section 254 (1a) of the constitution of Zimbabwe Number 20.
He said for the appointment of the rest of the Commissioners, the President requests for nominees from the Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (SROC) in terms of Section 254 (2) of the constitution of Zimbabwe.
