Temba Mliswa to hand himself over to the police

Notorn Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa has, through his lawyers, written to the Zimbabwe Republic Police indicating that he is willing to turn himself to the police after hearing that a report of soliciting for bribery has been filed against him by businessman James Ross Goddard.
Mliswa is being represented by Kadzere, Hungwe and Mandevere.
In a letter addressed to Assistant Commissioner Nyabasa by Mliswa's lawyers said, "Our client advises us that through a newspaper article carried in the public daily today the 4th of February 2019on its front page, he has come to know that there has been lodged a criminal complaint against him by one James Ross Goddard.
"In light of the above our client wishes to advise your good offices of the fact that he is more than willing and able to subject himself to due process and clear his name."
Mliswa highlighted that he is currently attending a Mining Indaba in South Africa and is ready to clear his name when he comes back in the country.
"We kindly request the name of the Police Officer ceased with the matter and where he may be located to allow for a visit once Honourable Mliswa is back in the country to allow him to answer to the allegations."
State media recently reported that Mliswa and other legislators from the Mines and Energy Portfolio Committee demanded $400 000 from Mr Goddard as "facilitation fee" to enable the latter's company secure a mining contract at Hwange.
Mr Goddard alerted Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga and Vice President Kembo Mohadi.
Other legislators implicated are Hon Anele Ndebele (MP Magwegwe), Hon Leonard Chikomba (MP Gokwe North) and Prince Sibanda (MP Binga North).
